We'll see you in China Thursday
We are proud of our new local Web site ChinaSentinel.com, but we want to know how you feel about it.
Publisher John Christie, several editors and managers and I will be at Tobey's Market on Route 3 in South China at 4:30 p.m. Thursday to promote the site, but also to get opinions about it.
It's an important event because we will launch four more of these "micro-local" Web sites in 2008 — at least — and we want to hear what's working for our readers and what could be better. I'll take notes. I'll have my notepad ready.
A few people have asked why we're meeting at Tobey's. Why not a restaurant or government building? One reason we are meeting at Tobey's is that the store is advertising at our Web site. When we can, we reward our customers.
Having said that, Hannaford — which plans to open a store to compete with Tobey's — is a huge customer of ours. But Hannaford's not in China (yet). We respect Hannaford, Shaw's, Tobey's and all of our grocery advertisers. But in this case, Tobey's is open in the town that ChinaSentinel.com serves. So we're going there.
We also want to go where people already are, rather than try to persuade people to make a special trip some place.
So, we'll see you at Tobey's Thursday, between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Bring your opinions with you.
