As Maine goes?

OK, so now we've nominated Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. Obviously, the best we can do is be half-right.

I've been predicting since before the Iowa caucus that the nominees will be Hillary Clinton and John McCain. I am sticking with that. I still see the Clinton "machine" as too entrenched, shrewd and well-oiled to be beaten.

That doesn't mean those are the candidates (current or former) I personally prefer, by the way.

I must say that the gap between turnout for the Democratic caucus and for the Republican caucuses was surprisingly dramatic. It is a nationwide phenomenon but the Maine gap was particularly large.

I am a former Mainer(Augusta) living in Boise Idaho. And I am hoping Hillary wins the nomination at the democratic convention. I agree with you, I see McCain vs Clinton as the parties nominees. If it comes to that, the people will select John McCain as the next president. I think the nation is primarily republican and moderately conservative.
