Another "small-town" Web site is coming your way

Want to guess where this one will be?

We launched our first "micro-local" Web site, ChinaSentinel.com, in December 2007. It was an attempt to do a virtual weekly newspaper -- a community newspaper online only.

If you haven't seen it, I strongly encourage you to visit the site. It has a lot of China news but also a comprehensive business directory, list of local officials and contact information and even a depth chart of China Lake.

Then, we launched FarmingtonSentinel.com last March. Same deal. Loads of Farmington news, updates, photos and helpful listings. Reader reaction has been even stronger than in China.

The reader and advertiser response to both sites has been successful so, as we had planned, we will launch a third local Web site on Sunday, June 1.

I will write more about the new site later next week but will give you a hint now about the target community: A beautiful, small town in the Kennebec Journal's circulation area.

Feel free to guess away.
