Mountains are open for skiing and riding

Sugarloaf and Sunday River have some of the best skiing and riding conditions ever seen this early into the season in snow country, and more snow is predicted for the rest of the holiday week.

The guns continue to pump snow at Sugarloaf, with snowmaking on Sluice, Lower Narrow Gauge, Tote Road, Kings Landing, Hay Burner, Candy Side and the Terrain Park, just in time for the Thanksgiving weekend.

Turkeys for toys and special blessings too
If you plan to ski and ride this weekend, bring in a new toy to the Shipyard Brew Haus at the Sugarloaf Inn and get your meal at half price. The toys will be donated to the Kingfield Giving Tree for local children.

Bring your skis and snowboards to the Jean Luce Timing Center at the base of Comp Hill where you'll get a special blessing of safety for this winter season.

Wine tasting and dinner
Make plans for the first wine tasting and dinner at the Double Diamond Steakhouse and wine bar on Thursday, December 11. Call now for reservations at (207) 237-4220.

Demo skis and snowboards
The annual demo days are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, December 13 and 14. This is your chance to check out the latest in snow sports technology and demo the newest skis and snowboards.

Sunday River has amazing opening
Snow guns have been cranking at this western Maine resort. Over 20 trails are open with three lifts operating have skiers and riders enjoying some of the best conditions ever.

By this weekend, the resort plans to have up to 20 trails open across three peaks.

Demo days scheduled
This is your chance to try out the newest skis and snowboards at Sunday River on November 29 and 30.

Many ski and snowboard manufacturers will be at slope side where you can test the newest equipment.

Ski and ride safely. Use your head and don't forget to wear a helmet!
