Sugarloaf snowfields open this weekend

Buckle your boots and get on the boards boys and girls and get up to Sugarloaf where you can get some high altitude skiing and riding this weekend.

Over two feet of natural snow has fallen over the past eight days. And with some enhanced snowmaking, skiers and riders can get to the 4,237 foot summit to enjoy some of the season's earliest and best conditions ever in the snowfields.

More trails and terrain opening
The full-size terrain park in the Stomping Grounds will be open and plans are to open terrain in the eastern bowl, making the open trail count to almost 70 for the weekend.

"We've been extremely blessed with great early season snowfall," said Rich 'Crusher' Wilkinson, vice president of mountain operations. "And the off season upgrades we made to our snowmaking system have allowed us to be more aggressive during the early stages of the season. All of the factors combined have enabled us to expand our terrain faster than we ever have before."

Forecasts look good for continued snowmaking with additional natural snowfall predicted over the weekend.

Ski and ride safely. Use your head and don't forget to wear a helmet.
