Second Annual Maine Ski Heritage Classic
Sugarloaf Mountain is the site for the 2nd Annual Maine Ski Heritage Classic to be held Saturday and Sunday, February 14 and 15.
The event was a big success last year, generating over $16,000 for the Ski Museum of Maine, located in Farmington.
On Saturday and Sunday, the museum's traveling display will be in the base lodge showing historical memorabilia, old photos, and equipment highlighting the industry's growth from the early 1900's to today.
Classic ski wear and parade
On Sunday, there will be an on-snow expo of skiers wearing vintage ski clothing and skis. The public is invited to dress in their classic apparel and get on the old long boards. There will be group photos at 3:30 p.m. in front of the base lodge. A parade will follow from the Sugarloaf base lodge to the Sugarloaf Inn.
A reception is planned from 4 to 6 p.m. ($10 suggested donation). There will also be time to view silent auction merchandise from 4 to 5 and a live auction will be run by Dick Keenan of Keenan Auction Company from 5 to 5:30. Over 100 auction items have been donated from supporters throughout the state.
Over 100 auction items up for bid
This is an excellent to make a bid on over 100 auction items including ski vacation packages, an Allagash River trip, ski apparel, white water rafting trip, helmets, dinner and gift certificates.
