Flood of '87 | Readers remember
Kennebec Journal & Morning Sentinel

Scoping out the flooded areas I was almost 10 years old during the flood of 87 and I lived in Norridgewock. My parents owned York's Market on Main Street in Norridgewock and we live on Route 2, the main road from Norridgewock to Skowhegan, which runs along the Kennebec River. During the flood we rode around (of course) checking out the flood areas. In order to get back to our house we actually had to drive through a couple flooded areas, which I can remember very clearly as I was very scared... I can remember a couple of the bridges in Skowhegan being ruined.
