Flood of '87 | Readers remember

Mother and daughter watch the water Wow! The following is my most vivid memory about the flood of '87. Standing with Mom on the sidewalk between Augusta Fuel and Patenaude's Superette on Northern Avenue just waiting for the oil tanks to come crashing down. If I quiet my thoughts, I can still hear Ma making the following statement: "Thank God your father is not here to see this." He'd left us just a mere two months before and we'd barely scratched the surface of the grieving process. (Conrad Castonguay was past president of Augusta Fuel.)

Then there was the 20-some-odd-mile detour to make the 1-mile commute to work. Thanks for the opportunity to share.
