FIREFIGHTER HONORED

Waterville firefighter and Vassalboro resident Ronald Currie died Dec. 6 of lung cancer. The department, along with other fire departments, recently honored Currie with a "Last Alarm" ceremony at the Central Station.

ALZHEIMER'S UPDATE
HALLOWELL -- For eight years, Christy Cross did what she could to keep her husband, ill with Alzheimer's disease, at home. She hired an aide to be with him during the day. She arranged for other family members to help. And she made sure she was home from work by 5 p.m. to relieve the daytime person. But by July of this year, she could do it no more.
