Lawrence gets better
As good as Lawrence High School was last season, it may be even better this fall. At least offensively.
The Bulldogs have become a much more pass oriented team, relying on quarterback Jack Hersom more and in different situations.
"We have been trying to get Jack involved a lot more," Lawrence coach John Hersom, Jack's father said. "Getting him to throw in early down situations."
After throwing just three touchdown passes in the regular season last fall, Jack Hersom has thrown 10 touchdown passes in five games. Friday night, Hersom completed just two passes, but both went for touchdowns in Lawrence 48-8 win over Brewer. Hersom threw a 30-yard TD pass to Shawn Champagne and a 14-yard TD pass to Champagne before being pulled, along with the rest of Lawrence's starters before the end of the first quarter.
"Our pass game is definitely opening up our run game and our option game," Champagne said. "(Jack) is definitely comfortable in the pocket because our line has done a tremendous job."
Lawrence improved to 5-0 with Friday's win and increased its winning streak to 16 games.
