High School Sports
After graduating from the University of Maine, Lazarczyk lanquished in the public relations biz for a few years before finally joining the news game in 1999. He worked at the Berlin (N.H.) Reporter for a year before joining the Morning Sentinel and Kennebec Journal in July, 2000. Lazarczyk covers football, basketball and baseball. A native of Rutland, Vt., Lazarczyk over-analyzes the New England Patriots and does a spot-on impersonation of Barney from "The Simpsons."

FOOTBALL: Lawrence nationally ranked

The Lawrence High School football is ranked the 26th best team in the nation, according to the folks at maxpreps.com and NFLHS.com.

According to the poll found at nflhs.com, the 7-0 Bulldogs moved up 10 spots this week. Lawrence is the highest-ranked team out of New England (Ansonia, Conn. is ranked 36, Everett, Mass. is 44, and Boston College High is 74).

Only Don Bosco Prep of Ramsey, N.J. was ranked higher than Lawrence out of the Northeast. Don Bosco is ranked 12.

The number one high school football team in the nation, according to this ranking, is St. Xavier of Cincinnati, Ohio.

According to information found on the maxprep.com site, the rankings are determined using a computer program. No coaches or media are polled. The system takes into accound quality wins and strength of schedule. Playoff games are given more weight than regular season games.
