FOOTBALL: Lawrence still nationally ranked

The Lawrence High School football team is dropped to 54th in the nation in this week's maxpreps.com national high school football rankings.

The Bulldogs were 26th last week, but fell 28 spots to 54 after defeating Messalonskee 29-14 on Friday night.

According to maxpreps, playoff games are counted more heavily in the rankings than regular season games. Lawrence, 8-0 in the regular season, begins defense of its Class A state title when it hosts Mt. Blue (3-5) on Friday night.

Other New England schools ranked this week are Ansonia, Conn. (36), Everett, Mass. (38), Boston College High School (46), and Brockton, Mass. (72).
