FOOTBALL: Rams no pushover
There's still Gardiner to play, but the official season ended for the Cony High football team with Friday night's playoff loss to Lewiston. Cony fans had to like what they saw of their team this season.
Not only did they end a 27-game losing streak but they put together a four-game win streak to close the regular season. The Rams will graduate 19 seniors but appear to have turned the corner under first-year coach Rob Vachon.
The nearly beat Lewiston, a team with just one loss this season.
Like players in every program, the Rams will have to get stronger in the offseason. But enthusiasm is building — there's nothing like a few wins — under Vachon, and that is the most important thing right now.
If Gardiner gets all the way to the state Class B title game, the Rams will be off for nearly a full month, and likely play their annual rivalry game Nov. 24.
