FIELD HOCKEY: Best in state will get tuneups with each other this week

It didn't take long for the local field hockey teams to come up with a Plan B once the state championship games were postponed on Saturday. Skowhegan, the Eastern A champ, will host both Eastern B champion Waterville and Western B champ Maranacook in scrimmages this week.

Skowhegan's home field, which is well-maintained and has low-cut grass, is about as close as you can get to turf for a grass field. This will make a nice tune-up for the state finals next Saturday, which will be played at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland.

Skowhegan will host Waterville at 3 p.m., Wednesday, and Maranacook at 3 p.m., Thursday.
