FOOTBALL: Tigers line gets it done
They are among the most anonymous participants in sports, but offensive linemen are vital to a team's success, and one reason Gardiner is winning football games.
Friday night, the Tigers hammered out a 49-20 win on the ground against Waterville, with their offensive line opening gaping holes for Brad Carleton, Bass Chadwick, Nick Jamison and Pete Caradonna.
Carleton scored on a pair of long touchdown runs and was untouchded on both of them, whiole Chadwick and Jamison were also relatively unscathered on scoring runs.
Senior center Billy Kelley anchors the Tigers line, flanked by guards Josh Austin Zach Lovely and tackles Andy Kelley and Isac Cone. There's size, led by 290-pound Andrew Kelley, but the Tigers also get it done with finesse as evidenced by 170-pound Zach Lovely.
Gardiner leads the Pine Tree Conferece is rushing yards, an especially valuable commodity when Maine weather turns cold and nasty in November. Mike Denham and Mike Lavallee play the ends along the line and have to block move often than not, although both caught key passes Friday night.
