HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Lawrence falls to dynasty that is Bonny Eagle

Minutes before receiving the Gold Ball for winning the Class A state championship trophy, Bonny Eagle High School players unrolled a banner that read DYNASTY.

With three Class A titles in four years, Bonny Eagle is just that, a dynasty.
And they knocked off a dynasty in the making, beating Lawrence High School 34-24. The loss ended a 22-game winning streak for Lawrence, who won the 2006 Class A state title.
Bonny Eagle got it done with an outstanding first half from quarterback Nate Doehler. A junior, Doehler rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns, while passing for 134 yards and a score.
Lawrence never got its offense untracked, but got back into the game with a pair of second half touchdowns. The second was a 19-yard touchdown pass from Jack Hersom to John Flynn, who was playing in his first game of the season on Saturday. Flynn went through two weeks of double sessions in the preseason before learning he had a herniated disc. He sat out until being cleared just before the Pine Tree Conference Class A title game. He returned to practice at the start of this week and saw time both offensively and defensively in the title game.
