COLLEGES: Roderigue flying and taking Clark with her
Messalonskee grad Sarah Roderigue has always been able to create her own shot by slashing to the basket. She can also stick a 3-pointer and contribute in other ways. As well as she has played, though, Roderigue outdid herself in the first two games this season for the Clark University women's basketball team.
In two Clark victories, Roderigue led the Cougars in scoring and rebounding in both games. Most impressive was her shooting percentage, as she made 18 of 23 shots for a .783 mark.
Against Worcester State, Roderigue missed her first and last shots, but made all nine in between. She followed that up with a 9-for-12 performance in a 57-47 victory over WPI.
Roderigue, a junior, tailed off a little bit against Johnson & Wales on Tuesday, shooting 6 for 18 from the floor. She still finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds and four assists as the Cougars improved to 3-0 with a 79-68 victory.
For the season, Roderigue is averaging 20.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 58.5 percent from the field.
