GIRLS BASKETBALL: Early start, new venue for Waterville

Waterville will open defense of its Class B state title in the City of Waterville on Friday, Dec. 7, but it won't be at Waterville Senior High School, and it won't be at the usual 7 o'clock start for Friday night games.

The Purple Panthers will host Maine Central Institute at the Alfond Youth Center. The junior varsity game will be at 3 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 4:30. The games will be at the Alfond Center because of a craft fair at the high school.

Waterville will gte its first home game at the high school on Dec. 18 against Mt. View.
