High School Sports
Scott Martin has covered high school sports at the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel for the eight years. A graduate of Lake Region High School and the University of Maine in Orono, Martin has worked for these newspapers for nearly 10 years. Martin also coaches middle school baseball and basketball in his spare time.

HOCKEY: Waterville hosts Christmas tournament

The Waterville Senior High School hockey team will host its annual Christmas Invitational Dec. 26 and 27 at Colby College.

The Panthers open play in the tournament against perennial Class B power Orono at 11 a.m. Wednesday. In the second game of the day, Spaulding High School of Barre, Vt. will play Eastern A power Brunswick at 1 p.m.
The consolation game will take place Thursday at 11 a.m., followed by the championship game at 1 p.m.
Spaulding is a regular in the tournament and has played Waterville a number of times in recent years. In the preseason, Waterville beat Spaulding 3-2 in the Gregg Thygessen Memorial Tournament in Vermont.

How can a consolation game be played on a Tuesday? That is neither the 26th or 27th! Let's get it right.
