BOYS BASKETBALL: Maranacook gets it done
The Maranacook boys basketball team defeated Camden Hills 76-67 in an exciting, pulsating, insert-adjective-here game in Rockport on Tuesday night.
The Black Bears like to run, and run they did Tuesday. When they finally stopped, they walked out of Camden Regional High School's gym, which was packed to capacity (1,200 fans), with a big victory. Ryan Martin led the way with 29 points, and he was pretty much unstoppable from the onset. The Windjammers tried to press, but the Black Bears, for the most part anyway, did more than enough to beat it.
The crowd was terrific, too. Camden Hills athletic director Bill Hughes says the gym holds 1,200 fans, and there easily that many on hand Tuesday night. At one point, several chairs were set up along the court to accommodate the overflow crowd. They saw a great game between great teams, too. The question now is whether Maranacook can run the table.
