High School Sports
Bill Stewart has covered professional, collegiate and scholastic sports for 10 years. A University of Maine graduate, Stewart has worked with the Morning Sentinel and Kennebec Journal for a year. Prior to moving to Maine, Stewart worked for daily newspapers in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Stewart and his wife have one child.

FOOTBALL: Hersom wins Fitzpatrick Trophy

Quarterback/safety Jack Hersom of Lawrence High School won the prestigious James J. Fitzpatrick Award today at the Holiday Inn By The Bay in Portland.

Hersom was picked over fellow finalists Kyle Stilphen of Gardiner Area High School and Justin Villacci of Gorham High School. Hersom said he was "stunned" by the selection. Hersom led the Bulldogs to the Class A title game, throwing for 1,427 yards and 17 touchdowns.
