Winthrop looks to complete a sweep tonight of the top three teams in the Mountain Valley Conference when it takes on Dirigo in Winthrop.

The Ramblers have already beaten Boothbay and Mountain Valley, two teams, along with Winthrop and Dirigo, who have dominated the Mountain Valley Conference the past few seasons. Last season, Winthrop topped Boothbay and Dirigo but lost to Mountain Valley. In the Class C tournament, Boothbay knocked off Winthrop.
Last season, Winthrop beat Dirigo before a sellout crowd, 54-50. The 13-0 Ramblers return a bit more experience than the 12-1 Cougars but don't have an inside player to compete with 6-foot-8 center Thomas Knight. They counter with senior guard Sam Leclerc. Both Knight and Leclrec played on the same AAU team last summer and are getting a lot of interest from Div. 1 colleges. This game should be another sellout. Get there early.
