BASKETBALL: Mt. Abram boys pick up first win
The Mt. Abram boys basketball team earned its first win of the season on Wednesday night, beating winless Lisbon 52-43. Mt. Abram coach Corey Guilford said it was a matter of time before his team's hard work manifested itself as a win.
"We've learned from our losses, which has made us a better team," Guilford said. "We need to execute our game plans and improve. If we do that, we'll sneak out another win."
The Roadrunners had just two players return to the team this season with any varsity experience, juniors Sam Simpson and Noah Tranten. That duo has become the team leaders.
In Wednesday's win, Simpson scored 21 points with 10 rebounds, while Tranten had 14 points with 10 boards.
"They've really stepped up," Guilford said. "They've all worked hard, and it paid off with a win (Wednesday."
