High School Sports
Scott Martin has covered high school sports at the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel for the eight years. A graduate of Lake Region High School and the University of Maine in Orono, Martin has worked for these newspapers for nearly 10 years. Martin also coaches middle school baseball and basketball in his spare time.

BASKETBALL: KVAC honors

The Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference's Class A division handed out its top honors between the boys and girls championships games Monday night.

Locally, a number of players and coaches were honored.
Cony High School's Andrew Pullen and Bruce Hunt were honored as co-player and co-coach of the year, while Lawrence's Brogan Liberty and Jason Pellerin were each given the same honors. Pullen shared the award with Bangor High School's Ryan Weston, while Hunt shared the award with Mt. Blue High School's Jim Bessey. Liberty shared her award with Morse High School's Jill Henrikson and Pellerin shared his award with Morse coach Tom Morong.
Lawrence's Alexa Bernatchez was named to the North first-team along with Nokomis Kelley Paradis and Skowhegan's Kaley Brown. Cony's Rachael Mack and Shelby Pelkey were both named to the South first team.
Messalonskee's Orlando Holmes was named to the boys North first team, along with Mt. Blue's Ben Russell.
Greg O'Neill of Cony was named to the South's first team.
