HOCKEY: Lewiston edges Waterville

In one of the most exciting games I’ve seen all year, Lewiston edged Waterville 4-3 at Colby College’s Alfond Rink on Monday.

Both teams came ready to play and both played exceptional hockey. And for an 11 a.m. start, there was a terrific crowd on hand. Lewiston was well represented in the bleachers. Also taking in the game were members of the Lawrence hockey team. The Bulldogs are eyeing a possible semifinal matchup against the Blue Devils, who will be the top seed in the Eastern A tournament.
Monday was the best Waterville has played in some time, and coach Dennis Martin knows it. The Panthers, if they can play like they did against Lewiston, are going to be tough out in the tourney. Of course, it looks like they will play Bangor in the first round, which isn’t exactly an easy draw. The Rams blanked the Panthers 2-0 this season.
