HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY: Waterville survives

The No. 3 Panthers will play for the Eastern A title Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland.

The Panthers' opponent is still unknown because Lawrence and Lewiston will player tonight. And I mean much later. The starting time was supposed to be 9 p.m., but after Kennebunk and Falmouth played a double-overtime game in a Western A semifinal earlier, everything has been pushed back about 45 minutes.

This means Lewiston and Lawrence won't go at it until 9:45. No matter which team the Panthers face, it's going to be a great storyline. The Panthers and Blue Devils have played two great games this season and a third would be a fun to watch. As for Lawrence, the Bulldogs are 1-0-1 against Waterville this season and a trip to the finals would be nothing short of remarkable.
