Cindy Blodgett on the UMaine women
I spoke with University of Maine women's basketball coach Cindy Blodgett this morning for a story I'm writing about Christina Mosher, a freshman on the team from Farmington.
I also asked Blodgett her thoughts on the season as the Black Bears prepare for an America East first-round playoff game against Stony Brook on Thursday.
Here are some of Blodgett's comments:
"I think there's an enormous amount of growth that we still need to tap into."
"As I've told them all season, anyone can play Division I athletics, but there's a fine line between people playing and actually competing."
"We're not very disciplined. That's part of the reason we cough the ball up 24, 25 times (some games)."
When talking about Mosher, Blodgett said her situation was the same as all other players on the team: The talent is there to get minutes, but it will depend on how hard they work during the offseason.
