Labreck stands out at Nike Indoor Nationals

LANDOVER, Md. — Messalonskee High School senior Jess Labreck finished third in the girls indoor pentathlon at the Nike Indoor Nationals, held this weekend at the Prince Georges Sports and Learning Complex.

Labreck finished with 3,399 points for the five events. Ryann Krais, a senior from Pennsylvania who is heading to UCLA, won the meet with 3,823 points. Shakeia Pinnick, a junior from Aurora, Ill., took second with 3,549 points.

Labreck, who is heading to the University of Maine, was third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.12 seconds), tied for third in the high jump (5 feet, 3.75 inches), seventh in the shot put (30-10.25), seventh in the long jump (17-0.5) and eighth in the 800-meter run (2:33.23).

A total of 26 students competed in the girls indoor pentathlon. Medals are given to the top six finishers in each race and All-American certificates are awarded to the top six finishers in each event.
