Richard making a case for herself at Husson

Mt. Blue graduate Megan Richard is now a freshman at Husson College. As a member of the softball team, Richard couldn't get off the bench in the early going.

Now, Richard is making sure she won't come out of the lineup.

Richard got a total of five at bats in Husson's season-opening trip to Florida. Now she's getting playing time as the designated player (softball's version of the designated hitter), and through Tuesday her numbers were eye-popping: a .452 batting average, 10 runs scored, nine RBI and an .806 slugging average in 31 at bats.

Richard was recently named the North Atlantic Conference Softball Rookie of the Week after going 10 for 18 (.555) with two doubles, three triples and a home run as Husson went 6-0 on the week.
