Madison-Hall-Dale softball

The fans who stayed outside under blankets and layers of clothing saw a rare feat Wednesday afternoon as Hall-Dale hosted Madison in softball action. In the first inning, Hall-Dale senior pitcher Jocelyn Tripp struck out the side on the minimum nine pitches.

Tripp finished with 15 strikeouts and two hits allowed in Hall-Dale's 4-3 win. It was an interesting game because after three innings, Hall-Dale was up 4-0 and Madison didn't have a baserunner. Hall-Dale got one hit the rest of the way and Madison used some Hall-Dale mistakes to get back in the game.

Madison coach Al Veneziano had the best line of the day. With two out and the tying run on second in the top of the seventh, the home plate umpire called a strike on a Madison batter. Veneziano thought the pitch was a ball, and said, "Come on, Blue! It's not that cold!"
