TRACK AND FIELD: Alexis soaring high

Waterville Senior High School junior Dominik Alexis is closing in on the state record in the high jump.

Alexis, one of the top track and field athletes in the state, recently jumped 6-foot-8 in a meet.

The state record is 6-foot-9. Waterville track and field coach Ian Wilson says it’s just a matter of time before the record falls — and he’s probably right.

If/when Alexis sets the new standard, the next target jump is 6-foot-11. That would earn Alexis a spot on a national junior team.

Stay tuned ...
