Tennis excitement at Monmouth
Tuesday's boys tennis match between Monmouth Academy and Lisbon came down to the final match between Monmouth's Noah Bosworth and Lisbon's Nick Carville.
With the team score tied at 2, the winner of the No. 1 singles match would win the match.
Playing pro sets (first to 10, win by 2), Bosworth fell behind 2-8. With all of his teammates watching, Bosworth, however, managed to rally back for an 11-9 win, giving Monmouth a 3-2 win.
"I couldn't get any of my kids to play exhibitions matches because they were glued to that match," Monmouth coach Tyler Hunt said.
Both teams finished the match at 8-4. The win is a big one for Monmouth, because Lisbon plays in Western Maine Class B, which means the Class C Mustangs will earn extra Heal points for beating the Greyhounds. Monmouth entered the week ranked fourth in the latest Western C Heal point standings.
