Morrill the right fit at Valley
Nobody knows the pressure Wade Morrill feels more than Morrill himself.
Just 27, Morrill will coach the Valley High School boy's basketball team next season. Morrill takes over for Dwight Littlefield, one of the winningest coaches in Maine high school basketball history. Littlefield won 471 games and six state championships in 31 years at Valley.
Morrill, a 1999 Valley graduate, played on the first two of Valley's six consecutive state championship teams. He coached the Cavaliers junior varsity team last season, and teaches in the school now.
Having been a part of Valley's impressive basketball history, he should be able to embrace the team's tradition while at the same time carve his own path, out of Littlefield's shadow.
Valley fans are smart enough to realize that Morrill isn't Littlefield, and won't hold the rookie coach to unreasonable expectations. Given time, Morrill will be able to add to Valley tradition.
Just wondering where there is a site that reports AAU basketball performance. High school stats are fine, but there are so many kdis that out pushing themselves at AAU ball to improve themselves overall, or just because they love the game which is why I think most are into it. The parents would LOVE to not have to travel all over New England to have their kids play, but the kids just love the playing time. Are there any web sites that keep track of Maine kids playing elsewhere? Legion Baseball gets so much coverage, and so it should...those kids who do extra and learn other methods should get the exposure....and so should the basketball players who just put so much time into the sport.

I want to offer my personal congratulations to Wade Morrill, the new Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Valley High School in Bingham, ME 04920.
It is always nice to see a Valley High School student do well. It takes 3 to 5 years to rebuild a basketball program from the bottom
up. BE POSITIVE-BE PATIENT-BE PERSISTENT. DO NOT GET TOO HIGH WHEN YOU WIN OR TOO DOWN WHEN YOU LOSE. COACH TO YOUR STRENGTHS AND YOUR PLAYERS' STRENGTHS. TEACH FUNDAMENTALS TO ALL PLAYERS ON YOUR TEAM NOT JUST THE STARTERS. BALLPLAYERS ARE BUILT IN THE OFF SEASON; TEAMS ARE BUILT DURING THE SEASON. SUCCESSFUL TEAMS ARE BUILT THROUGH A FEEDER SYSTEM. DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS. VALLEY HAS A WINNING TRADITION SINCE 1970-77 SO THE RISKS AND REWARDS ARE GREAT. I WISH YOU AND YOUR TEAM THE BEST OF LUCK.
AS A JV COACH, I AM GLAD THAT YOU DID NOT UNDERMINE THE VARSITY COACH TO GET THE JOB, BUT WAITED UNTIL HE RETIRED TO OBTAIN THE JOB. THIS SHOWS THAT YOU HAVE INTEGRITY, CHARACTER, AND THAT LOYALTY IS IMPORTANT TO YOU AS A PERSON AND COACH. "KEEP THE FAITH."
