Field Hockey players at the next level
One thing we do at the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel is take a look each Sunday at how former central Maine high school players are faring in college athletics. Many New England schools still haven't posted their fall sports rosters, but there's no shortage of local athletes playing field hockey in college.
Skowhegan has seven players now playing college field hockey: Caitlyn Lancaster (Colby), Lindsey Pinkham (Stonehill), Zara Saydjari (Michigan), Courtney Veinotte (Maine), Melissa Hancock (Sacred Heart), Andria Laroche (Wheaton) and Katye Milligan (WPI).
Goalies are also well-represented, as four freshmen are playing in college. Kents Hill's Liz Anderson is at Maine, Messalonskee's Beth Ridley is at Stanford, Cony's Natalie Fecteau is at Manhattanville and Waterville's Kristin Tormollan is at Franklin Pierce.
Once the season starts rolling, we'll have the list of local college field hockey, football and soccer players and their updated statistics each Sunday in the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel.
