Injuries mount for Oak Hill

It's been a tough week for the Oak Hill football team.

Well, actually, it was a tough one day $ Saturday $ for the Raiders. During its exhibition game against Lisbon last Saturday, Oak Hill lost not one, not two but three key players to injury.

The most significant is the loss of outside linebacker and halfback Josh Allen, who is out for the season with a broken collarbone.

To compound matters, seniors Clyde Tibbetts (halfback) and Matt Averill (wingback) are also "hobbling," according to coach Bruce Nicholas.

Tibbetts is nursing a sore ankle while Averill is out with a back injury. Nicholas said both could play Saturday against defending Class B state champion Gardiner.

"We're trying to work our timing out, and it's been tough," Nicholas said. "But it's been a tough week for sure."

Nicholas added that Adam Hathorne and Tony Vattaso will replace Tibbetts and Averill in the backfield.
