Tormollan off to a hot start in college

Waterville grad Kristin Tormollan has already earned the starting job in her freshman year at Franklin Pierce University, and she's off to a strong start.

Tormollan has played every minute of Franklin Pierce's first three games, and was named Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week for last week.

Tormollan has made 19 saves and has a 1.33 goals-against-average. She posted her first career shutout in a 2-0 victory over Merrimack on Sunday.

Messalonskee grad Samantha Newman has started all three games on defense for the Ravens and Maranacook grad Tia Levins has seen action in each game.

The statistics for those and about 100 other local players will be in each Sunday's edition of the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel throughout the fall season.
