GOLF: Messalonskee off to hot start
With a 7 1/2-1 1/2 win over Brewer on Wednesday, the Messalonskee golf team improved to 6-0. The Eagles returned every player from a team that went 10-0 last season, missing the state tournament by three strokes.
Still, coach Jim Kerschner didn't know what to expect.
"You never know," Kerschner said. "With high school kids you never know, but they are playing well. We have good depth."
That depth was test this week when the Eagles were forced to play without No. 4 golfer Gavin Hannon, who is dealing with an injured finger. Hannon injured the finger when he jammed it in a refrigerator door. Kerschner expects him back in the middle of next week.
Why doesn't the KJ or Sentinel recognize the Messalonskee Golf Team in Print. They we're undefeated last year and are currently 7-0 now.
There are other golfers besides Ryan Gay in Central Maine area. Let's give some kids credit, some have worked all summer trying to improve!
My Nephew is a sophomore and shot par at Belgrade during a match against Skowhegan and you never hear about it in the KJ or Sentinel.
