Richmond wins, now waits

The Richmond boys soccer team wrapped up its regular season with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory Monday over Waynflete.

The victory brings good and bad news to the Bobcats (14-0-0), the defending Class D state champs.

The good: Richmond locked up the top seed in Western D.

The bad: It's going to be awhile before the Bobcats play a tournament game.

Seven teams qualify for the Western D tournament, and the Bobcats earned a bye into the semifinals, which are scheduled for Nov. 1. That means coach Joe Scribellito will have to wait 11 days between games.

"Now we play the waiting game," Scribellito said.

The third-year coach added that he's scheduled a few scrimmages to keep his team sharp.

The Bobcats will scrimmage Mt. Abram, which will likely be the top seed in Western C, on Thursday before playing the Hyde School of Bath next week.

"This should help us stay on our toes," Scribellito said.
