I find it rather interesting how since the Lawrence Football team beat Skowhegan the Community and fans of "Skowvegas" seems to point the finger/blame at Coach Marston... For 7 weeks coach Marston and Billy Clark were the best things since sliced bread, but after the one loss the team has had everyone is ready to kick Marston to the curb!!! The Indians have had an amazing year and should be proud of this season, however far it may take them.
So my thought is, instead of blaming Marston, has anyone from Skowhegan happened to think that maybe Lawrence is just a better team?
Lawrence is an exceptional team..they bust their butts everyday and deserve every win they EARN... Those boys dont take anything for granted and know what it takes to be Champions. They respect their coach and get the same respect in return...But they also respect all the other teams in the conference. They aren't cocky or arroagnt...These boys are just an amazing group of kids. My family takes pride in this team and our school, we love watching these kids play and will enjoy watching them prove themselves worthy every week until the end of the season.. no one has kicked the coach to the curb or the team. I for one think coach marston will make the changes need to improve the strengths of the team by using all the talent available to him. The ppl that have complained are not complaining about the coach but about how he prepares the teams for the game and like you said your boy practice and wok hard i have seen the practice full contact no holding back come to the skow practice and watch how most of the boys stand around watching while others stand like dummies for the defense or offense to run around. look for skow to be a different team when we meet again

I thought the "BigFootballFan" article might be something interesting about the Skowhegan team. Instead it was a chance for a Lawrence fan to brag some more. With fans like that, why wouldn't their team be "cocky or arroagnt?" By the way, it is arrogant. I agree with the skow fan. I don't know where the bigfootball fan is getting his information but coach Marston is a good coach. There is always someone who would do something differently...even in Fairfield. Lawrence is a great team but so is Skowhegan. Our boys work very hard as well. Coach Marston has done community service work for 15 yrs and has his players doing it as well. For that in itself, they should be commended. As for football, they are a great bunch of kids who would love to beat their rival and they will sooner than Lawrence would like. It might not be as soon as we would like but it WILL happen. Every good thing must come to an end. We'll see you in a couple weeks.

I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT SKOWHEGAN HASNT BEATEN ANYONE WITH A WINNING RECORD THIS SEASON.. REMEMBER LAST SEASONS PLAYOFFS WHEN SKOWHEGAN WAS SUPPOSED TO COME BACK AND PLAY BETTER? THE INJURIES ARE TOO MUCH UP IN VEGAS AND ITLL BE A HARD GAME FOR THEM TO WIN IN FAIRFIELD. BEST OF LUCK TO THEM THIS WEEK. AND HOPEFULLY THE GOOD OLD TEAMS OF THE PTC REUNITE IN THE PLAYOFFS AGAIN.

ok you think we havent beat anyone with a winning season and the injuries will hurt us. ok lets see skowhegan has a very deep pool of talent to choose from so injuries wont hurt us. we played both lewiston and edward little in preseason and beat both of those teams. we will see what happens on the next game with the bulldogs because i have seen skow practice and i believe that the bulldogs will be in for a surprise next time they meet the indians. last year we gave all we had in the first meeting and made moves then the second game we wre stopped. skowhegan has alot more to show then what you seen so just be prepared to be shocked because coach marston may not meet what the parents think for practice but he is not stupid good luck to you since we all know that you dont need it against mt blue

The only differences in season schedules between Skowhegan and Lawrence is: Lawrence played Brunswick and Skowhegan played Oxford Hills. The rest of their schedule was the same. That was pretty rude to say Skowhegan hasn't beaten anyone with a winning record. I guess we should be flattered to be referred to as Vegas...all the glamour, lights, etc. You should be careful how you beat, you might just lose.
I heard last year during the basketball season that Lawrence and Lewiston fans and players got into a brawl. I don't know how true that is but what kind of example is being set for those boys.

OK "Skowfan and Indian fan" first of all I am not a he I am a she and if I wanted to "brag" there is A LOT more I could have said and you know it....secondly I gave props to Skowhegan and credit them for a great year...They are a good team, with a great coach Like I said.
And you know what, all good things do come to and end..like your winning streak. And you know what else? you're right, We may not be able to win every year, My 7 year old can predict that. There are good seasons and bad seasons, but every year they will do their best!!!
And YOU may not be saying anything bad about Marston but neither am I.
There are, however, many people that are..I have heard it from parents of kids who play for Skowtown and I have read it in the paper recently..check thursdays paper.
I have always respected Skowhegan Schools, I know many folks from there and athletes....My point was to those people who ARE complaining that they need to STOP...No coach is perfect, but at the first sign of defeat many of the people from your town were ready to throw the first stones at Martson...
And by the way, I wrote the good things about Lawrence in hopes that some of the players may see it and see how proud of them we are...All season long people have said..."Lawrence has won enough...give someone else a turn"... and "Lawrence isn't good enough to win again this year" I want them to know, they are good enough...and they are proving it to everyone!!!
I am not going to sit here and play tag with you about who is better and who will win, You wanna say I am arrogant, back at ya!!!

think what you said is very accurate. Iam from waterville, I know people from both sides and I have heard some of the same comments being made about marston...It's not right to put him down that way..have some pride in your coach.
As for Lawrence, I think you show pride in your team and there is nothing wrong with that. They are a terrific team as well as Skowhegan, but I have to say that Lawrence is the better team. I dont think you were being arrogant,
I feel the same about our boys here at WTVL as you do about your bulldogs. Our Panthers show heart and work hard and we are proud of them.

hey so you all know i am james macarthur i wrote the letter that was published on thursday too bad is was not published in full because it would have that i was not attacking mike about the loss but was more infact saying that maybe some changes are in need as far as preparing the team. I will always be there for the black and orange boys and i show that with all the support i giving i am at all practices and games i donate my time to the booster to make sure the boys see the community appreciates there hard work. what i hate seeing is the number of kids that leave the program. sophmore year is always had in any sport but why make it harder fr them my son has played for the last 3 yrs without a loss there first loss was hard on them and the parents that seen them play this year. i am as well tired of hearing all the talk in the bleachers because truth be told its all about the kids. not the community or the coaches but the kids as soon as we all rememeber that we will be much better off. as far as the fight didnt know nothing about it but you know i have been in sports for a very long time and usually its not the kids but the parents in the stand so dont put this on the kids but how about the spectators. so you know my son plays for marston and has told me he will not go to another school if i move because he will always be skowhegan that is pride in the program the team and maybe even the coach. if you know mike tell him to look at this and he will see the support he has

Skowfan, I entirely respect that...I dont have a teen son playing, just a good friend of the family at Lawrence.... You are absolutely right, it is all about the kids... I want you to know I respect your opinion and I mean no disrepsect to you or the Indians...
I think coaches have a tough job and they need support, so when I hear the things i do , it shocks me and I feel for the coach.
They put in a ton of time and so do the players and parents. Someday I hope to watch my son play at this level.

I love football and take pride in our Dogs, I am sorry if you feel in any way that I was bragging them up, that was not my intentions.
I want our Dogs to know how proud we are of them, these boys are role models for my son and I think highly of them all, in their actions and the way they carry themselves. They have so much to be proud of and I just wanted them to know that.
Skowhegan has been awesome, I am happy to see them having a great season as well, I would be proud if either the Dogs or the Indians went to kick butt at state's....but mostly the dogs..LOL

hey all i have all the respect for the dogs there a great team they play with heart and practice hard to be the best. in the off season the players take it on thereselves to continue to grow. my son is a great qb and with the right coach could go along way. he has a strong arm and i smart about how he handles the ball 2 yrs ago i was tempted to move t fairfied to get him with a throwing team but because my son is nothig more then an indian i stayed this year he has moved thru several spots none being QB. he started this season as the varsity safety. played that spot until me missed a practce and game then was never practiced there again now this is a sophmore that is told by varsity players he hits almost as hard as any player out there he is smart and knows football at one point he wanted to quit but a couple of senior kept him focused and told him he would be a great player just stick to it. I have watched the dogs progam for many years and simle fact is they work all there talent not just a few chosen that is why they are always so great billy lark is a good runner but after billy maybe 2 more weapons so the focus is on billy

I hope things turn around for your son Skowfan...
He needs to never give up and keep giving 100%, he will have his chance...
Unfortunately Some coaches are blind to talent and potential, and sometimes they dont see what they should...and for some coaches all they see is a last name.
Keep him motivated....If he walks away from the sport he loves he will regret it later in life.

someone said the indians beat lewiston and edward little in preseason, i dont know if you were at the game, but edward little was up 34-17 in the 3rd quarter when we put in our jv team and you guys kept your starters and beat us by three, but we all know who got an a-- whipping that day, i dont think you guys will beat brunswick friday night, but good luck. we hope we can meet again.

i'm sorry edward little/lewiston won't be in the big game lawrence/skowvagas to strong.

mike i said it and yes i was at the game. your right about the score but i filmed the game along side another coach and i have to tell you we put our jv team out against your varsity and they scored three times before any line changes were done by edward little. again preseason two different teams and skow is not the same team you seen that day. but i think you have to worry about oakland first because there your firs threat gonna be really really cold tomorrow night and oakland runs the ball very well and does not have o depend on the passing game but you al have fun as much as i would love to watch my son tomorrow night in the win against brunswick i have to travel to warmer weather for a couple of weeks but i will be here to brag talk to you all then have a great time tomorrow night
