High School Sports
Scott Martin has covered high school sports at the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel for the eight years. A graduate of Lake Region High School and the University of Maine in Orono, Martin has worked for these newspapers for nearly 10 years. Martin also coaches middle school baseball and basketball in his spare time.

FIELD HOCKEY: Chadbourne, Damon among Miss Maine finalist

Gardiner Area High School's Hailey Chadbourne and Skowhegan Area High School's Kylie Damon were selected as finalists for the Miss Maine Field Hockey award, which will be handed out at the annual banquet on Sunday.

Other finalist are Nichole Kimborowicz of Biddeford High School, Jessica Ruhlin of Deering High School and Courtney Erskine of Leavitt Area High School.

Chadbourne had 16 goals and nine assists for the Tigers this season to finish her career with 61 goals and 43 assists. She holds three school scoring records and has received a full scholarship to play at the University of Iowa next fall.

Damon, a center back, scored 11 goals and had six assists this year as the Indians won their eighth straight Class A state title. She will play at the University of New Hampshire next fall.
