BOYS BASKETBALL: Gardiner turns it around
The Gardiner boys basketball got off to a poor start this season, losing its opener handily to Rockland. Worse yet, the Tigers were assessed three technical fouls, coming across as sore losers.
Visiting Rockland had a few unsportsmanlike moments, too, but that shouldn't have affected Gardiner.
"We sat down and talked the practice after that game and since then we've turned it around," senior Mike Denham said. "We come to play basketball now."
Denham's statement was born out this week as the Tigers pulled out a win on the road against Lincoln on Monday night and another at the buzzer against Maranacook on Tuesday.
Gardiner coach Jason Cassidy didn't start the three players who received technicals for the Lincoln game although all three are valuable starters. Message given and message received. It's nice to see the team back on track.
