They balance studies, athletics

It's not easy excelling in the classroom and on the basketball floor. Both take time and effort.

That makes the accomplishments of Waterville's Morgan Frame and Camden Hills' Gordon Fischer doubly impressive. The seniors were named girls and boys Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B Players of the Year on Saturday at the conference championships.
For many high school students, participation in sports helps their performance the classroom, most likely because the two require strict budgeting of time. Athletes are also held to academic standards if they wish to participate in athletics. Forty-eight players made the KVAC all-academic teams in Class B this season. In addition to Frame and Fischer, first team all-stars who made the academic list include Waterville's Stephanie Whitten. Second team selection who made the all-academic list include Winslow's Lindsay Gordon and Camden Hills' Kiefer Lammi. Congratulations to all.
