After graduating from the University of Maine, Lazarczyk lanquished in the public relations biz for a few years before finally joining the news game in 1999. He worked at the Berlin (N.H.) A native of Rutland, Vt., Lazarczyk over-analyzes the New England Patriots and does a spot-on impersonation of Barney from "The Simpsons."

Who's on your Mt. Rushmore?

ESPN recently asked fans from around the nation to vote on what athletes would be on their state's Mt. Rushmore of sports.

Maine's four were Cindy Blodgett, Paul Kariya, Joan Benoit Samuelson and Mike Bordick.

That's a pretty good group, although I'd replace Bordick with John Winkin.

Fans in my home state, Vermont, selected former University of Vermont men's basketball coach Tom Brennan, former NHL star John Leclair, Jake Burton, inventer of the snowboard, and LPGA star Patty Sheehan.

I can't argue with Brennan, Leclair or Burton. Instead of Sheehan, I may have gone with one of the great skiers from Vermont. Billy Kidd or Bill Koch, or perhaps Andrea Mead Lawrence.

Who would you put on Maine's sports Mt. Rushmore? How about your high school's?

Harold Alfond, Louis Sockalexis (sp?), Joan Benoit Sam, and Cindy Blodgett. Honorable Mention: Billy Swift, Mike Bordick, Carlton Willey, John Winkin, Paul Kariya, Pete Ladd, and the dude that won all the World Series games for the Philadelphia A's back in 1912, or whenever.
