Tuttle looks ahead to spring

It's been a whirlwind senior year for Shelby Tuttle.

First, in the fall, Tuttle helped the Waterville Senior High School girls soccer team win its first state championship since 1984. Then, Tuttle enjoyed a dominant indoor track season, setting state records in the long jump (17 feet, 5 inches) and triple jump (37-9.5).

Oh, and the Purple Panthers also won a Class B state championship, as well.

So, what's next?

Well, the outdoor track season, of course, which could also bring more state records.

"My goal is to hit 40 feet in the triple jump," Tuttle said.

The outdoor Class B state record in the triple jump is 37-5.5, which Sarah Keenan of Foxcroft set in 1997.

There are some other goals, too.

"We may take a crack at the 300 hurdles and that record," Waterville coach Ian Wilson said. "We'll see."

Winslow's Jodi Grenier owns the current Class B record in the 300 hurdles with a time of :45.2.
