More of the same for White in college
If you follow softball in central Maine, you probably remember Monica White, the 2006 Cony High School grad best known for striking out 30 in a 1-0, 17-inning win over Skowhegan in the 2006 Eastern A semifinals. White is now a junior at Rivier College in New Hampshire, and the zeroes continue to pile up.
This spring, White has a 1.01 ERA and 112 strikeouts in 83 1/3 innings. Only twice in 17 appearances has she allowed more than one earned run in a game.
White has had some tough losses, leading to a 7-6 record with two saves. But she's done her part to provide offfensive support. White plays shortstop when she is not pitching, and bats leadoff in each game.
At one point, White hit in 16 of 17 games. Although she's gone hitless in her last three games, she's still hitting .380 with 10 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 22 games.
