GIRLS SOCCER: Waterville-Brunswick leftovers

Waterville and Brusnwick each finished the regular season undefeated in Eastern A girls soccer. They played in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A championship game, and Waterville won, 2-0. Wednesday's regional final between the teams was better, and what you'd hope for in a matchup between two unbeaten teams.

GIRLS SOCCER: Scoring in wind key

While the wind wasn't as bad as he expected, Winslow girls soccer coach didn't think anyone would score with the wind in their face.

When Winslow did, it was a huge boost.

GIRLS SOCCER: Practice makes perfect for Winslow

The Winslow High School girls soccer team used a sharp short-passing game to win the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B championship with a 3-2 win over Medomak Valley on Thursday.

The Raiders showed terrific chemistry, setting each other up for a number of quality chances.

The key, according to coach Scott Wood, is practice.

AK good fit at Winslow

Arian Kumlangngam, or AK as Winslow coach Scott Wood calls her, is lighting it up for the Black Raiders. She scored three goals in Tuesday's 4-0 win at Erskine to bring her season total to seven goals in four games.

GIRLS SOCCER: Emotional night for Zarrilli

Wednesday was an emotional night for Gorham girls soccer coach Jeanne Zarrilli. Not only did her team win its fourth straight state title, one of her daughters scored the winning goal, another led a strong defensive effort.

SOCCER: Back to full strength, sort of

Richmond high school played its first game of the Western Maine Class D playoffs and cruised to an 8-2 win over Buckfield. The Bobcats played with forward Amy Russell, something that was in question until right before game time.
