As well as the state's high school golfers are treated at Natanis Golf Course, there are still a couple of changes that could improve the state individual tournament.

With a 7 1/2-1 1/2 win over Brewer on Wednesday, the Messalonskee golf team improved to 6-0. The Eagles returned every player from a team that went 10-0 last season, missing the state tournament by three strokes.

Ryan Gay played in his first Maine Amateur golf championship as a 14-year-old kid in 2004. He made the cut that first year, knocking 13-time champ Mark Plummer out of the tournament.

Gardiner's Ryan Gay and Gorham's Davd Gushee knew they'd be no playoff after they tied for the Class A individial title Saturday at Natanis. But they held one anyway.
