Where can you go to catch a star?
Kennebec Journal & Morning Sentinel Sunday, May 27, 2007

OTHER PLACES Old Port, Portland Cumberland County Civic Center, Portland Bay Club, Portland Ruby's Choice, Portland Village Inn, Belgrade Lakes Day's Store, Belgrade Lakes Durkee's Store in Islesboro Island Market in Islesboro Sugarloaf 1-800-THE-LOAF (Portland sources: Portland Magazine)
DiMillo's Floating Restaurant and Fore Street Restaurant in Portland have had plenty of star sightings.

"We've seen Bruce Springsteen a few times," said a Fore Street hostess named Andrea. "There's a recording studio in town that gets a lot of famous musicians." She also cited rock Ôn' roll musician Peter Wolf ("Sleepless"), Alan Alda and John Travolta.

DeMillo's manager Steve DeMillo cited CBS news anchor Katie Couric of "Today Show" fame, Billy Joel, Christie Brinkley, and Bruce Springsteen.

But, you might bump into a celeb in a spot as commonplace as a Target store in South Portland.

That's where popular "Survivor" host Jeff Probst and his girlfriend of three years, Julie Berry, formerly of Gorham, now of Los Angeles, were spotted this past Christmas season, according to realitytvworld.com. Berry, a 2004 "Survivor: Vanuatu" contestant, was out shopping with her sweetie and enjoyed talking with customers.

Lucky fans might also catch a celeb now and then stealing into L.L. Bean in Freeport in the wee hours, after the crowds are gone, said MaineToday.com columnist Colleen Stone. "According to (L.L. Bean) employee David Keplar, celebrities are big fans of L.L. Bean at night Ñ particularly John Travolta," she wrote.

Bob Marley has become Maine's best known comedian, even though he moved out of his home state and took up residence in Los Angeles.

"He comes back often though, playing shows at Portland's Comedy Connection, Merrill Auditorium and area high schools. So, there's plenty of chances to meet him," said Ray Routhier, staff writer with Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram.
